108 Solstice Sun Salutes benefit the Siddhartha School

Heartsong Yogis will gather at 6:30 am for an early morning start as the sun rises in the sky to practice 108 Sun Salutations together! It takes about 1.5 hours to complete. We hope to be able to do this outside in the parking lot. Wear layers to shed as the sun shines. We will have a tented corner where those who are sun sensitive can roll out their mat! If you love a strong and playful practice, join us! If you are not sure if you can do 108 Sun Salutations, come do a few! If you do not know how to do a Sun Salute...we will teach you!!
All Yogis of All Levels are welcome You can do 1 Surya Namaskara or 108. Or just sit and breathe and enjoy the energy of the group and Steve Sampson's amazing play list...the tunes are always awesome.

All Yogis of all levels are welcome to join us in this summer celebration! The practice of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskaras) honors the change of seasons and the transitions of nature’s sun and earth energy. It is a moving meditation, a practice to train your mind to "be here now, and only here" and to strengthen your body through the repetition of movements. All levels of yoga practitioners can do 108 sun salutes! We will give modifications throughout, choices, chances to rest, and opportunities to support the group with your presence and with your voice, helping us to count and to remember!
Why 108? This number has long been considered a sacred number…
Traditionally, malas are strung with 108 beads. According to yogic tradition, there are 108 pithas or sacred sites in India. There are 108 Upanishads. There are 108 marma points or sacred places on the body. 108 is the number of names for Shiva in Hindu philosophy....and more.... What's so great about the number 108?
