Yoga for Warriors
Monday, Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 9 to Noon.
Details to follow.
Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Give Back Yoga Foundation.
(No "regular" Ashtanga class will be held that morning!)
Spend a morning with Beryl Bender Birch, for conversation, Q&A, and an asana (yoga) practice accessible to everybody! Beryl will share with us the grounding, calming, and pro-active practices that she details in her new book, Yoga for Warriors, and teaches to veterans and to anyone who hopes to be healthier and happier and effectively deal with the traumas of life — whether past or future.
Learn to use the yoga practices to develop resilience, a sense of control, and a safe connection to the present moment.
Beryl is Sheila's mentor, teacher, and dear friend to her and many of us at Heartsong Yoga. She is the director of our current teacher training program, and her teachings have influenced and inspired us since Sheila met her in 1996. Don't miss this opportunity to see her in the New Year.
Beryl Bender Birch has been teaching yoga and meditation for nearly 40 years and is the author of four best selling books on yoga, including her most recent book "Yoga for Warriors." Beryl is also the Director/Founder of the Give Back Yoga Foundation which supports yoga teachers in developing service projects in under-served areas of their communities. As part of the ongoing mission of Give Back Yoga Foundation, Beryl has spent the past two years focusing on the development of resources for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
